The seventh episode of “Euphoria” Season 2 sheds light on Madeline “Maddy” Perez’s past and future. In Season 1, Maddy is Nate Jacobs’ on-and-off girlfriend. The duo break up for good and Maddy learns of her best friend Cassie’s affair with Nate in the second season. Lexi’s semi-autobiographical play reveals the origin of Maddy and Cassie’s friendship. After Maddy’s parents started arguing a lot, Maddy spent most of her time at the Howard house with Cassie.
The strong friendship between the two girls is severed after Cassie meets Nate, for whom Maddy still seems to harbor romantic feelings. In the seventh episode, viewers see Maddy having a conversation with Samantha. Maddy babysits Samantha’s son and the two have developed a friendship. In their discussion, it is hinted that Maddy is considering leaving East Highland and moving away. From Maddy’s words, it is apparent that she will no longer be working as a babysitter for Samantha, which further reiterates her future plans away from East Highland.
Is Alexa Demie leaving Euphoria?
Maddy’s intention to leave East Highland comes as a surprise as she has never hinted at such plans before. However, given the recent developments surrounding the character, there are various reasons why Maddy might want to step away. As a result, viewers are increasingly worried that such a situation could lead to actress Alexa Demie’s exit from the show. Nate’s threatening behavior to get the record back and the fallout from their breakup left Maddy in a bad mental state. Plus, his friendship with Cassie was effectively ruined. It is therefore logical that a change of scenery can benefit the teenager. Similarly, an unforeseen situation in her parents’ lives could also force Maddy to move out.
However, viewers may misinterpret Maddy’s conversation with Samantha, and she might just quit her job and not walk away from East Highland. Maddy is still a junior, so moving to another city for college isn’t really on the cards. Additionally, Alexa Demie is considered a series regular and an integral part of the show.
