Billions Season 6 Episode 7 Recap
In this episode, Mike is still in shock after losing to Chuck in the previous episode. He, along with other investors, is preparing for the fights ahead. New York City declined his gift and decided to keep the old transportation system. Also, Chuck and Governor Sweeney forced him to donate over two billion dollars to the city. In episode 7, as Mike and his team get closer to their goal, they become cautious and hesitant, knowing that a single mistake can bring the whole operation to failure.
Mike approaches the Metropolitan Transportation Authority with his proposal. Even though he’s willing to pay for the whole project, the government wants to keep his private investment out of the MTA, especially with Chuck harassing him. But as always, Mike knows how to get what he wants. He meets with the MTA’s board of directors and pitches the idea of a complete overhaul of the city’s transportation system. Soon, the mayor of New York shows up for the meeting and tries to put a stop to Mike’s plans. It’s an election year and she doesn’t want to attract negative publicity to her campaign.
Meanwhile, Chuck and Wendy are spending time together. In recent seasons, they have become more and more distant. In Season 6, Chuck turned into almost a caricature of himself. A potential path opens up for Chuck and Wendy to get back to where things were. However, they spent so much time embracing the differences between them that they forgot how wonderful it was to be together.
Billions Season 6 Episode 7 Ending: Does New York City Win the Olympic Bid?
Yes, New York wins the 2028 Olympic bid after much turbulence. Prince knew that the final obstacle in this endeavor would be the greed of the Olympic committee. Instead of bribing them outright, he acquires scholarships at his old university and distributes them to committee members so they can hand them out to deserving candidates. Recognizing the transaction for what it is – a sophisticated form of corruption – Chuck and his team discover Colin Drache’s name. Dave is skeptical of a conviction. She doesn’t even know if Mike is doing anything illegal. Chuck promises Dave that if they don’t find anything criminal down the road, she can choose their next target.
Like her current employer, Kate must come to terms with her recent defeat. She realizes that Chuck will come after scholarships and warns Mike. She also warns Wags about the high-end brothel he used to entertain members of the Olympic committee. Both turn out to be great advice, showing just how well Kate knows Chuck again.
Prince threatens to take his subway renovation plan to another city only to find that Sweeney and the mayor plan to use the two billion dollars they took from him to upgrade the New York City subway. What he doesn’t know is that Taylor made a play against the MTA. This causes stock prices to plummet, leaving the town with no choice but to accept Mike’s help. They also agree to build the railway for the Olympic Express, which will take tourists from the city to the venue of the match.
Eventually, it is announced that New York has won the rights to host the 2028 Summer Olympics. Prince, his fellow billionaires, and the people of New York begin to celebrate together. Chuck arrives with the police just then, hoping to arrest Drache, but finds he is missing. There’s a reason the man has been able to avoid detection by law enforcement all this time. He is practically a ghost. After completing the task assigned to him, he vanishes into thin air without a trace.
