Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 25 Recap

After successfully rescuing Jean, Yelena, and Onyankopon from the Yaegerists, the Eldians and Marleyans who have united to stop Eren from carrying out his genocidal plans have dinner together somewhere in the jungle. Some time earlier, Hange had personally discussed the current storyline with Jean and Mikasa. While the latter immediately offers to help him persuade Eren not to commit the unthinkable, the former expresses several reservations. But after Hange reminds him of the sacrifices of his fallen comrades, he also agrees to join the plan.

But just before having dinner together, the Eldians and Marleyans who have joined hands for the same reason seem to be conflicted about working alongside their sworn enemies. General Magath asks Hange about his sudden change of heart and also opens up about his hatred for the Eldians, whom he continues to call the Devils. He is convinced that he and the Marleyans were right all along about the people of Paradis Island. Appalled by his hateful comments, Jean argues that his people only defended themselves against countless Titans that the land of Magath deliberately sent to kill the Eldians.

Unfortunately, Magath cares no less about Jean’s arguments and brings up the 2,000-year-old story of wars and bloodshed that was started by Ymir. Hange tries to calm things down by arguing that discussions of the past are rendered moot by present reality, but the emotional differences are only highlighted in later arguments. Yelena, who has been listening in silence to the entire conversation, reminds the Eldians and Marleyans of their heinous crimes.

The discussions quickly spiral out of control and culminate in a violent beating of Reiner by Jean when the wielder of the Armored Titan confesses something about his past. Fortunately, Gabi intervenes and calms things down by apologizing to Jean, who comes to her senses and walks away. The next day, he wakes up Gabi and Reiner as the members of the Anti-Eren Uprising head towards the port. But along the way, they are stopped by the Cart Titan, who informs them that the port is occupied by Yeagerists.

While he knew it was the only way to keep their secret, Reiner was overcome with guilt after this incident. Although Jean appears to be in control after learning the truth about her friends’ deaths, moments later he leaps on Reiner and continues to punch his face even when his comrades try to stop him. However, he eventually comes to his senses when he punches Gabi, who hugs Reiner to protect him from Jean’s merciless blows. She then apologizes to him, aware that the people she fought with and for whom they hurt others.

Gabi has shown remarkable understanding of the whole conflict since being moved by the kindness of Sasha’s family. Does Yelena come from a small nation annexed by Marley? Why did she lie about her past?

When Yelena joined Eren and Zeke in enacting the euthanasia plan and ending the conflict that has resulted in countless deaths over two thousand years, she had told her comrades that she had just a small nation that Marley had annexed. However, his claims have never been tested throughout history.

It turns out General Magath and Pieck did a background check on Yelena and discovered the shocking truth about her. Regardless of her claims, she actually came from a typical Marley family and was never a victim of the country’s colonization ambitions. In fact, Yelena concocted the whole story just so she could fit in with her new castmates while working alongside Zeke.
