Kody Brown’s unconventional love life has grown in popularity since TLC’s “Sister Wives” landed on TV. In his quest to achieve his ideal version of a family, he came across Christine Allred, and the two were married soon after. A big reason Christine and Kody seem perfect for each other is their similar outlook on life and marriage. Despite several difficulties, they remained strong for the most part. Kody and Christine: Sister Wives Journey
Since the premiere of “Sister Wives,” Christine has been vocal about her expectations of a romantic partner or husband. Raised in a polygamous family, she always had the absolute certainty of being part of a plural marriage as an adult. According to her statement, she wanted to be in the company of sister wives in addition to her husband. Along with that, she preferred to be someone’s third wife. So her dreams came true when she became the third person to marry Kody Brown, a strong believer in polygamy.
Kody Brown was introduced to the practice of polygamy by his father, who adopted him when he was in his 40s. Kody followed suit and ended up marrying four women, although he was legally married to one of them. His other three marriages, including his relationship with Christine, were considered “spiritual unions”, only approved by the church. The couple married in March 1994 when Christine was 21. A year later, she gave birth to her daughter Aspyn. In June 1996, they welcomed their second daughter, Mykelti, followed by Christine’s first son, Paedon, in August 1998.
Over the next few years, the couple ended up having three more children – Gwendlyn, Ysabel and Truely. Likewise, their marriage had remained a smooth affair for the most part. Christine’s special expectations of being the third wife went unchallenged until Kody married his fourth wife, Robyn. The addition of another 16-year-old bride in Christine and Kody’s marriage did not sit well with him. In March 2021, she said she no longer felt like an “equal partner”. Christine felt like her opinions were overlooked even during the most crucial moments.
Although they celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary with much love, their marriage reached an all-time high in season 15 of the series when Christine let everyone know of her annoyance. She even stopped being part of their family outings and was frustrated with the limited physical contact with her husband. Kody further disappointed Christine when he failed to show up for his daughter, Ysabel, in New Jersey while she was undergoing major surgery. Both women were extremely sad because of this. In August 2021, when Christine became certain things weren’t going to get any better, she decided to sell the Flagstaff property she had purchased with Kody. Subsequently, she moved to Utah in October of the same year.
Are Kody and Christine still together?
Even after spending 25 years together, Kody and Christine decided to go their separate ways in November 2021. She shared her feelings via an Instagram post without harboring any resentment or hard feelings for her ex-partner. She further stated that the couple will always be on good terms and continue to raise their beautiful children together. Kody’s next statement was along the same lines, so we can infer that they still share a strong bond. Christine’s post-divorce life appears to be thriving, and fans might be happy to know that she wants to maintain her friendship with Kody.
