Snowpiercer Season 3 Episode 7 Recap
The seventh episode of ‘Snowpiercer’ Season 3, entitled ‘Ouroboros’, begins with Layton dreaming of a very different version of the Snowpiercer. He is kidnapped by two unknown men in the dream, only for Javi, Wilford and Ruth to save him from them. He goes to Ben, who issues a pass to cross the border inside the train. With the identity of a dancer, he deceives the border police officers and crosses the border with others. He meets Roche and trades another doll for Winnipeg’s. In reality, Josie finds Layton in the tail and takes him to Dr. Pelton. Although he survives death, he falls into a coma.

In the dream, the Border Patrol agents, mainly LJ, discover that Layton and others were lying. She orders the officers to shoot everyone. Layton somehow survives and is arrested. He is visited by Pike, who asks him to repent for the sins he has committed. In the real world, Bess asks Miss Audrey to help Layton by getting inside his head. Audrey starts talking to Layton and asks him to come out of the dream that is stopping him from waking up alive. Layton begins to see Audrey in the dream as she frees him from prison.
Layton goes to the tail and demands to see the tail boss. Josie lets him in and meets the boss, none other than his grown daughter Liana. However, a bomb in Winnipeg’s doll explodes and transports him to Asha’s car. He confronts an enemy who tries to kill him and Asha, but manages to end the battle by killing the person.
Snowpiercer Season 3 Episode 7 Ending: Is Layton Coming Out of the Coma? What does he think about New Eden?
Miss Audrey’s intervention to save Layton from the dream holding him back pays off when he manages to sense her presence. Yet his subconscious persists in the realm of a dream. In the dream, Layton constantly demands to open a safe which Asha locks so as not to let Layton see the contents. Although Asha tries her best to stop Layton, he eventually manages to open the locker and look at a photo of the tree he sees in his visions. A sudden realization happens in Layton, waking him from his coma.

When Layton comes out of the coma, he thinks of the photo of the tree. He realizes that he saw the photo before rescuing Asha from the underground reactor so that his mind could create visions about the same. If his research shows that the tree only grows in New Eden, he takes that as a sign that the Arabian warm spot is actually warmer for life to exist and trees to grow. He decides to lead the Snowpiercer to New Eden based on his visions and considers himself the messiah of the remnants of humanity.
Layton’s newfound understanding that the tree’s visions are just his mind’s way of mimicking the photograph makes him realize that New Eden may very well be another barren and frozen wasteland. His desire to establish a human colony in New Eden also crumbles with the realization.
What does Wilford discover? Is Melanie dead or alive?
After recovering from the gunshot wound, Wilford becomes obsessed with a particular detail he encountered while Layton and his allies were away on the pirate train. He asks Alex for cards and other equipment to prove something. Wilford reveals to Alex that he received signals from Marseille, France, when she was away looking for Melanie. Alex tells him they’ve never been to France to send such a signal, confirming Wilford’s doubt that the signal came from Melanie. Since there are no other frost survivors in the world, Melanie may be the only one who can transmit such a signal.

When Layton, Alex, Ben and others don’t find Melanie at the gas station, they fear the worst. Their fears seem to come true when they read her diary in which she wrote that she will walk out into the cold to die. However, Alex and others’ initial understanding that Melanie is dead may change with Wilford’s new discovery. The signal from France may be sent by Melanie, possibly after arriving there with other survivors. The existence of Asha and her life that survived the freeze shows us that other survivors are indeed a possibility and that Melanie may have survived with the help of them.
