Leela’s ambition amazes her partner Devon and her superior Billie Sutton. As she seriously considers pursuing her dream, Billie aggressively informs her of the impossibility of mastering two of the most difficult surgical fields.
As Leela’s career and ambitions face a daunting challenge in Chastain, the characters’ admirers worry whether she’ll leave the hospital to pursue her dream, leading Anuja Joshi to potentially leave the show. If you are asking yourself the same question, we have what you need! FRONT SPOILERS.
What happened to Leela Devi?
After impressing cardiothoracic surgeon AJ and neurosurgeon Billie, Leela begins to think about where she should go as a surgeon. Her interest in cardiothoracic surgery and neurosurgery inspires her to be brave enough to focus on both fields. When she shares her plan with her partner Devon, he informs her that her ambition requires an impossible amount of dedication and hard work on her part. As her partner, Devon does her best to warn her of the difficulties she will face if she goes ahead with her desire.
Billie, on the other hand, flatly rejects Leela’s ambition. She lets Leela know that focusing on two difficult surgical areas will compromise her expertise, leading to risks during the surgery. The neurosurgeon fights Leela’s ambition with reason and logic, leaving Leela to ponder her career and future at Chastain if she’s determined to focus on both areas. So, will Leela leave Chastain to pursue her dream elsewhere, opening a door for Anuja Joshi to get out of the medical drama? Let’s find out!
Does Anuja Joshi leave the resident?
Whatever the challenges, Leela has always tried to face life with courage to end up triumphing at every stage of her life with dedication and determination. Even when Devon and Billie express their concerns when she tells them about her dream, Leela doesn’t think about giving up on her ambition. As someone who unflinchingly approaches the difficulties that arise in life, the opportunity exists for Leela to seek out another institution to pursue her dream and prove to herself that she has the caliber and strength to fulfill her ambition. So, fans are right to worry about the character’s future at Chastain.
However, there are no official statements or announcements from FOX or Anuja Joshi regarding Leela’s supposed departure. Even though Leela is sure of her dream, she is sane enough to understand the truth and reason behind Billie and Devon’s words. She’s not expected to make a life-altering decision — like leaving Chastain in a hurry — especially when she’s mature enough to know that the answers she’ll get from other hospitals won’t differ dramatically. Rather than leaving Chastain, Leela could prove her abilities to Billie and AJ, two surgeons who only wish her well.
In future episodes of the fifth season, Leela may be seen trying to prove to her superiors that she can handle the difficulties of doing cardiothoracic surgery and neurosurgery together. Even though Billie and AJ are impulsive with their reactions, they’ll probably do whatever they can to help Leela achieve her dreams. Since she also has an understanding CEO in Kit to guide her, we may not have to worry about Leela de Chastain leaving. Given these possibilities, we think Anuja Joshi will likely continue to feature in “The Resident.”
