Does Jane Leeves’ kit leave the resident?

-

Dr. Kit Voss AKA “Boss Voss” is the incredible caretaker of Chastain Park Memorial Hospital in FOX’s medical series “The Resident.” In the show’s fifth season, Kit faces serious challenges in her personal and professional life when her partner, Dr. Bell, suffers from multiple sclerosis. She does her best to provide emotional support to Bell while managing the day-to-day administration of the hospital.

The fourteenth episode of Season 5 depicts another predicament in Kit’s career as she is demoted from her position as CEO. With Kit Chastain’s career taking a hit, fans have to worry about the character’s future in the hospital and Jane Leeves’ prospects of leaving the show. With that, here’s everything you need to know! FRONT SPOILERS.

What happened to Kit?

When Billie learns that Dr. Bell is running for a seat on the Georgia State Medical Board, she realizes that Bell’s opponent is Robert Porter, who raped her when she was thirteen. Kit lends her support to Billie and contacts council officials to press charges against the pedophile doctor. She assists Billie in every way she can as a superior, mentor, and friend. However, the consequences of Billie’s decision to oppose Porter affect Kit extremely. To scare Billie, Porter organizes a Twitter campaign to reveal that Billie had operated on a patient as a resident without her supervisor.

Billie’s procedure rendered the patient paraplegic. Based on the tweets, Chastain’s board members ask Kit about Billie’s appointment as Chief of Surgery. They inquire about Billie’s violation and hold Kit responsible. Even though Kit explains his side, the board decides to demote Kit from the position of CEO. As Kit steps down, one has to wonder if the character will stay in Chastain. So, is Jane Leeves quitting the medical drama? Let’s find out!

Is Jane Leeves leaving the resident?

Over the years, Chastain has gone through several difficult phases. From changes in ownership to several individual concerns, the hospital survives several challenges. The Twitter attack on Billie also puts the hospital in a bad light, and Kit’s demotion is the price the board must pay to save the facility from the heat of the predicament. As Kit leaves the CEO’s office, one has to wonder if this is an indication of Kit’s time at Chastain ending for Jane Leeves to leave the show.

However, there are no official statements or announcements from FOX or Leeves regarding Kit’s supposed departure from the show. Even if Kit is demoted, she is expected to continue as an orthopedic surgeon at Chastain until the heat of the Twitter attack subsides. Given that Dr. Bell is being named interim CEO rather than a regular position, we can very well expect Kit to return to his old position sooner rather than later. Bell’s appointment as the newest member of the state medical board could also hasten Kit’s return to his old position. In light of the assurance from the hospital board that Kit will not be fired, the surgeon could continue her career at Chastain alongside her partner.

Given these factors and possibilities, we think Jane Leeves will likely continue to star in “The Resident.” As CEO of Chastain, Kit revolutionizes the medical establishment. His commitment to the hospital may not waver simply because of the demotion. In future episodes, we may see Kit back in the CEO’s office to guide his doctors impeccably, as always.
