Will there be a sequel for A Fistful of Revenge?

-

“Fistful of Vengeance” is a stunning action movie that follows Kai Jin, the last of Wu’s mystical assassins, as he and his friends track a killer in Bangkok. However, their target turns out to have much darker apocalyptic ambitions, making the mission much more dramatic.

Written by Cameron Litvack, Jessica Chou and Yalun Tu and directed by Roel Reiné, the Netflix film features a remarkable range of fast-paced fight sequences. The narrative also hints at a larger story arc, and while some foes are defeated, Wu Assassin’s central journey is far from over. So can we expect another iteration of the film? Here’s everything we know about the ‘Fistful of Vengeance’ sequel.

Fistful of Vengeance sequel release date

Fistful of Vengeance premiered on February 17, 2022 on Netflix. The film was released internationally on the streaming platform, and fans were pleasantly surprised by the supernatural martial arts drama. Therefore, here’s what we know about the possibility of the story being continued.

As for a sequel, there has been no official announcement from the filmmakers or Netflix so far. However, there seems to be a lot of untapped potential in the narrative that can still be explored and a sequel is quite likely. Although the film is a stand-alone story, it’s essentially a sequel to Netflix’s supernatural action series “Wu Assassins.” The cinematic narrative retains the series’ central characters and their dynamics but places them in a dangerous new situation.

Thus, the story of ‘Fistful of Vengeance’ could even continue in a potential season 2 of ‘Wu Assassins’. Of course, there’s also the possibility of another movie coming out. While it’s likely we’ll see more of Kai Jin, the Last Wu Assassin, in a sequel or even a follow-up season, don’t expect to see him very soon. According to our estimates, if the movie gets greenlit anytime soon, we can expect to see a “Fistful of Vengeance” sequel later this year. 2023 or later.

Fistful of Vengeance Sequel Cast: Who can be in it?

The cast of the film is led by the essential Iko Uwais, who plays the last Wu Assassin, Kai Jin. The rest of the central cast includes Lawrence Kao (Tommy Wah), Lewis Tan (Lu Xin Lee), Francesca Corney (Preeya), and Katrina Gray (the Interpol agent). Yayaying Rhatha Phongam (Ku An Qi), Jason Tobin (William Pan), and JuJu Chan Szeto (Zan Hui) also play prominent roles in the film.

We can expect Uwais and the rest of the central cast to return for a potential “Fistful of Vengeance” sequel. However, new films usually bring new villains, and since the antagonistic characters of Phongam and Tobin are overpowered in the original film, they might not reprise their roles in a potential sequel.

Fistful of Vengeance Sequel Plot: what can it be about?

At the climax of “Fistful of Vengeance”, Kai and his friends venture into a cave where William Pan dug an ancient portal. Although the villain briefly succeeds and transforms into the mythical Pan Gu, he is quickly taken down by Kai (with Lu’s help). Eventually, William and Ku are subdued, and Pan Gu falls into the depths of the portal he came out of.

As for what might happen in a potential sequel, there’s a small hint that Kai drops in the original film’s closing scene. While it’s hard to tell if he’s joking, the reluctant Wu Assassin claims he’s going after the “necromancer.” All other details are left out. So a potential sequel could introduce a new villain called the Necromancer. If and when the sequel releases, we can also expect Kai and his friends to once again face off against waves of relentless enemies. The blistering action characteristic of the first film, as well as the family dynamics of the central characters, will certainly carry over to any “Fistful of Vengeance” sequel.
