It tells the story of the eponymous family, who run a chain of megachurches from their headquarters in North Charleston, South Carolina. Eli is the family patriarch and head of the Gemstone Ministries. Jesse, Kelvin and Judy, his three children, are also involved in the church. “The Righteous Gemstones” is a biting satire of the greed and hypocrisy of the peddlers of faith. The Gemstone family represents the rot that exists within organized religions. However, they are not without redeeming qualities. They clearly draw a line in the sand on some things they will never do and always cross for each other.

The Righteous Gemstones Season 3 Release Date
Season 2 of “The Righteous Gemstones” premiered on January 9, 2022 on HBO and aired nine episodes before concluding on February 27, 2022. Episodes are typically 33-60 minutes each. As for Season 3, here’s what you need to know.

In January 2022, a few weeks after the premiere of the second season, “The Righteous Gemstones” was officially renewed for a third season. “After a season of literal fire and brimstone, blood, sand and rollerblading, who wouldn’t come back for more?” said Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of programming at HBO, in a statement. “The Gemstone family makes us laugh like no one else.”
The intervening period between the conclusion of the first season and the premiere of the second lasted over two years, but this was due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that a significant portion of the US population has been vaccinated, this shouldn’t be a major issue. If production begins in the next few months, fans can expect ‘The Righteous Gemstones’ Season 3 to release. around 2023.
The Righteous Gemstones season 3 cast: who can be in it?
Season 2 of The Righteous Gemstones stars McBride (Jesse Gemstone), John Goodman (Dr Eli Gemstone), Edi Patterson (Judy Gemstone), Adam DeVine (Kelvin Gemstone), Tony Cavalero (Keefe Chambers), Cassidy Freeman (Amber Gemstone ), Walton Goggins (“Baby” Billy Freeman) and Jennifer Nettles (Aimee-Leigh Gemstone). The cast also includes Tim Baltz (Benjamin Jason “BJ” Barnes), Gregory Alan Williams (Martin Imari), Valyn Hall (Tiffany Freeman), Eric Roberts (Glendon “Junior” Marsh Jr.), Skyler Gisondo (Gideon Gemstone), Eric Andre (Lyle Lissons) and Jessica Lowe (Lindy Lissons).
Andre and Lowe likely won’t appear in Season 3 – except perhaps in flashback scenes like Nettles – because their respective characters were killed off. The rest of the cast will likely reprise their roles. Even Dermot Mulroney, whose Reverend John Wesley Seasons has been missing since season one, may well return for season 3 and will be joined by potential new cast members.
The Righteous Gemstones Season 3 Plot: What Is It About?
In the Season 2 finale, it is revealed that Lyle and Lindy were behind the attacks on the Gemstone Family. Lyle was working with Thaniel, providing him with information on other pastors until the latter accidentally shot himself. The Gems eventually find out, prompting the Lissons to flee.
However, Martin watches over them on Eli’s behalf. Information about Lyle and Lindy’s whereabouts is shared with the cycle ninjas. After being shot several times, Lindy dies and Lyle freezes to death in the cold of Alaska before a pack of wolves devours his body. “Baby” Billy and Tiffany reconcile after the birth of their child. Judy and BJ decide to have a child together, and Kelvin takes over as head of the youth ministry.
In Season 3, the conflict over the future direction of the Gemstone Ministries will likely continue to be a major narrative point. It will be interesting to see how Judy reacts to motherhood. We might find out more about Eli, “Baby” Billy, and Aimee-Leigh in the flashback scenes. Reverend John Wesley Seasons could return and a row over the running of the church could break out between him and the Gemstones.
