Mike, aka US Marshall Michael Vargas, becomes an unlikely ally (and maybe a bit more) to Andy as the young woman tries to uncover her mother Laura’s tumultuous past. Initially mistaken for one of several shadowy individuals intent on harming mother and daughter, the agent eventually reveals himself as a good guy who nearly loses his life helping Andy.
Interestingly, another dynamic develops between the girl and the agent, one that observant viewers would see hints of from the first encounter between the two. After all they’ve been through, do Andy and Mike finally find each other? The Netflix thriller series doesn’t have much room for romance, but there might be some sparks here. Let’s find out. FRONT SPOILERS.
Do Andy and Mike end up together?
Andy meets Mike for the first time in a bar where the latter kindly helps him get rid of some curious customers. The young woman, who is still only at the beginning of her adventure and is desperately looking for someone to help her understand the situation in which she finds herself, gravitates around what seems to be a trustworthy stranger. Mike vaguely hints that he’s a former member of the military, which is how he ends up teaching Andy how to fire his newly acquired gun into a rear ally. Things get pretty flirtatious when they first meet until Andy notices Mike’s car and realizes she saw it parked outside his mother’s house shortly after they were attacked. .
Realizing that Mike isn’t who he claims becomes one of the many nasty shocks Andy faces, and the pissed off protagonist escapes in a panic. Soon after, it becomes apparent that Mike is following her. Luckily, he soon reveals that he’s a U.S. Marshall assigned to keep tabs on her, and though one has to be convinced, Andy finally begins to believe him. The fact that he saves her from an assassin attacking Andy in a motel room also helps create a bond between them.
For most of the story, however, Andy is in the midst of a bumpy ride and doesn’t dwell on potential romances. All of her subsequent interactions with Mike are frantic steps to avoid danger or uncover more of Laura’s explosive past. The agent, on the other hand, becomes a staunch ally to the cause of the mother and daughter and continues to help them even when he is not officially obliged to do so (since Laura decides to withdraw from the child protection program). witnesses). In the process, Mike also falls victim to a shadowy assassin (sent by Laura’s hostile brother Jasper Queller) and nearly loses his life. It is only through Andy’s timely action that he survives.
So it’s not until the adventure ends after the tumultuous season finale that Andy and Mike finally have the chance to pick up where they left off romantically. The adventure they live together, not to mention the fact that they saved each other’s lives on different occasions, naturally creates a strong bond between them. Although we don’t see them doing anything official, a shy conversation that ends with them agreeing to go on a date is all the clue we need.
Considering everything they’ve been through together, the initial attraction between the two only seems to have grown. So, in all likelihood, Andy and Mike end up together, and agreeing to go on a date seems to be the start of their relationship. Since Andy is no longer part of the Witness Protection Program, the US Marshall likely won’t have a conflict of interest in being involved with her, which makes things even easier (for once!).
