In the season 2 finale of ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’, when Inosuke and Tengen Uzui take their last breaths, Nezuko comes to their rescue and uses the Blood Demon Art to remove the poison from their bodies. After making sure his companions are safe, Tanjirou, along with Nezuko, starts looking for Gyuutarou and Daki to check if the demons are dead or not. Demon Slayer Season 2 Final Recap
After the Demon Slayers successfully defend themselves against Gyuutarou and Daki’s violent onslaught, they even manage to simultaneously sever the necks of the brother-sister duo using their Nichirin swords. However, moments before being decapitated, Gyuutarou uses one last desperate attack. Although in the next moments he is decapitated, the blades of blood he unleashes are about to seriously injure Tanjirou, Zenitsu, Tengen, and Inosuke, when Nezuko intervenes.
Luckily, she saves her brother and his companions moments before they are about to be cut to pieces by the Blood Blades using her Blood Demon Art as a defense. When Tanjirou realizes he is safe, he is suddenly alarmed by Zenitsu’s call for help. When the protagonist meets his friend, he learns that Inosuke’s heartbeat is getting weaker every moment. Inosuke’s condition seems too critical, and Tanjirou has no idea how he can help as the poison quickly spreads throughout his friend’s body. But much to her surprise, Nezuko uses Blood Demon Art to burn off all the poison and save Inosuke’s life.
The brother-sister duo then proceed to aid the Sound Hashira in the same way, providing the three Tengen wives with much-needed relief. When it appears that none of his companions are in mortal danger, Tanjirou, along with Nezuko, sets out to find Gyuutarou and Daki to ensure that the Upper Six’s co-holders are finally dead. He finds the decapitated heads of the brother-sister duo, which slowly vanish into nothingness. In their final moments, the two begin blaming each other for not defeating the Demon Slayers.
When the altercation heats up and Gyuutarou is about to say that he wishes Daki had never been born, Tanjirou intervenes. He asks the demons not to curse themselves since they have no one else in the world and they don’t even believe what they say themselves. When Daki’s head fades, Gyuutarou recalls old and painful memories in his final moments to address his one regret before dying himself.
Meanwhile, the Hashira serpent, Obanai Iguro, arrives at Ground Zero and encounters Tengen Uzui. The former blames the latter for being so badly injured and argues that he should have easily dealt with the upper rank six demons. Instead of arguing, the Sound Hashira talks about his decision to retire, ignoring Obanai’s protests. At the same time, Akaza is summoned to Infinity Castle by Muzan Kibutsuji.
Demon Slayer Final Season Ending: How did Gyuutarou and Daki become demons?
Shortly after Daki’s death, Gyuutarou begins to reminisce about the brother-sister duo’s painful past. A long time ago, Gyuutarou was just another ordinary boy living in Rashomon River Bank, the poor area of ​​the entertainment district. The standard of living there was so horrible that the children were considered a curse by the parents, as they could barely earn money to feed them.
Gyuutarou’s mother tried to kill him several times, but the innocent boy somehow survived the brutal beatings each time. To make matters worse, people there treated Gyuutarou horribly because he was ugly. He often resorted to hunting rats or insects using his sickle for food. However, her life changed when Ume (Daki) was born. His handsome face, for some reason, ended Gyuutarou’s inferiority complex, and he finally learned to embrace himself and the wicked world around him. He soon started fighting and became a collector.
Gyuutarou’s life seemed to have meaning despite all the cruelty around him, and Ume gave him a reason to live. But he was no longer a helpless victim, and the brother-sister duo have now learned to fight for survival. As they prospered their enemies increased, so when Ume blinded a samurai with her hairpin, it turned out to be a horrible mistake. She was captured and then burned alive by her attackers.
When Gyuutarou found his charred body and started crying for his sister, he was also attacked by a samurai by order of a woman. However, he retaliated and killed the woman and the samurai moments later. As he started crying for Ume again, a higher-ranking demon showed up and decided to give them a chance to join the Twelve Kizuki.
The brother-sister duo then became powerful demons who then killed many Hashira over a period of decades. However, their joining the forces of Muzan Kibutsuji was a decision that was shaped by years of cruelty and oppression that Gyuutarou and Daki endured in silence while living in Rashomon River Bank. So, in the end, as crucial as it was for them to accept the offer to join the forces of the demon lords, the hatred of the world played an equally important role in their transformation into true demons.
Why is Akaza summoned to Infinity Castle by Muzan Kibutsuji?
At the last moment of the Season 2 finale, Akaza suddenly finds himself in Infinity Castle. He immediately realizes the gravity of the situation as Muzan Kibutsuji never summons his minions until there is bad news. In the Season 1 finale, when he summoned the demons of the Lower Six, they were severely punished by him. Most of them were brutally eliminated by Muzan because they were too weak.
The Demon Lord was angered by Rui’s death on Mount Natagumo, and right after Gyuutarou and Daki’s beheading, we see something similar happen in the Season 2 finale. Higher Ranks have not been called to the Infinity Castle for the past one hundred and thirteen years. Although the anime doesn’t show what happens next, the higher rank demons will most likely be warned by the demon lord.
Unlike lower-ranked demons who are disposable, these more powerful Twelve Kizuki soldiers have been around for hundreds of years and have hunted multiple Hashiras in their lifetime.
