One of the main subplots of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” is the complex relationship between Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) and her estranged husband Joel (Michael Zegen). In Season 1, Joel is the one trying to be a stand-up comedian. However, he lacks the talent for this and copies Bob Newhart’s routines. He leaves Midge for his secretary, turning their lives upside down. When Midge’s parents blame her for the separation, she goes to the Gaslight club, takes the stage, and delivers a drunken, raw, and impromptu performance. His success launched his comedy career. Despite the split, Midge and Joel remain connected, and not just because they’re parents to two kids.

Will Midge and Joel end up together?
In February 2022, it was announced that the fifth season of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” would also be its last. This means the writers now have a definitive time to give the characters romantic happy endings if they choose, that is. Since their separation, Midge and Joel have been with other people, but they somehow continue to find each other. In Season 1, Joel breaks up with his secretary, Penny Pann, and he and Midge sleep together. However, he then watches her perform and hears her say unflattering things about him, and they part ways once more.
In Season 2, Midge begins dating a surgeon named Benjamin, who seems to be fully accepting of her choice to become a comedian. However, her experience with Joel and her initial inability to accept his choices clouds her judgement. She comes to think that Benjamin will end up asking her to quit stand-up as well. So when she gets the chance to open for popular singer Shy Baldwin, she ends her relationship with Benjamin with a letter. At the time, they were virtually engaged. Midge returns to Joel and they sleep together again.
In Season 3, Joel engages in a relationship with a Chinese-American woman named Mei, who has quite a bit in common with Midge. Early in their relationship, Joel visits Midge in Las Vegas. They get drunk and end up in a chapel. The next morning, they discover that they have remarried. However, this time they quickly try to get a divorce.
In Season 4, their relationship grew into a strong friendship. Joel is an amazing father and is always very willing to make personal sacrifices for his ex-wife. And Midge is also always there for Joel. Their relationship will continue to evolve, but not necessarily in a loving way. We know that Milo Ventimiglia has been cast in a mystery role in the show’s fourth season. Some sources report that he plays a character credited as the “Bel Homme”. The images released to the press imply that there could be a romantic connection between his character and Midge. Plus, Benjamin can potentially show up one more time and decide to give the entire Weissman clan another chance.
Joel and Midge might not reconcile in the end, but they will most likely remain friends for the rest of their lives. It happens. The definition of a given relationship changes. Midge turned the worst day of her life into something positive. Once she’s truly made it, she can look back fondly, knowing that was the day she began her journey of self-discovery.
