Developed by Ronald D. Moore based on Diana Gabaldon’s novel series of the same name, Starz’s historical series ‘Outlander’ revolves around Claire, who travels back in time from the 1920s.e century to the 18e century to fall in love with a Highland warrior named Jamie Fraser. Jamie and Claire become entangled in the political turmoil between the Scots and the English and survive several life-threatening cases.
Jamie’s courageous efforts to protect his wife and compatriots lead him to encounter death several times, only to survive alive each time. In the sixth season, Jamie does the same to protect Fraser’s Ridge, leaving people concerned for his fate. So, does Jamie die in the sixth season? Let’s dive into the possibilities! SPOILERS FORWARD.
Is Jamie dying?
In the show’s fifth season, Jamie confronts Lionel Brown and his men about the kidnapping of his wife Claire. Seeing the evil they have done to his wife, Jamie’s rage breaks the barriers to rain down in anger on Brown and his men. After killing everyone, Jamie takes Lionel’s body to his brother Richard. While Richard isn’t sad about his brother’s death, he makes it clear to Jamie that he won’t hesitate to kill him when the time comes. In the sixth season, Richard and his Committee of Safety hang over Jamie like dark clouds of impending death.
While Richard Brown waits for a chance to fulfill his wish to see Jamie’s death, his life is indeed hanging by a thread. His responsibilities as the new Indian agent and the smoke of the impending American Revolution also indicate that he may be forced to let go of his sword and fill his gun to save his life. That doesn’t necessarily mean Jamie will die in the show’s sixth round, though. Since Jamie’s death does not take place in the season’s source novel, “A Breath of Snow and Ashes,” eager admirers of the character can expect Jamie’s strength in the coming episodes.
Even if Jamie manages to stay alive, his desire to live a peaceful life with his wife, family, and other tenants cannot be fulfilled at all. The revolution is expected to test his loyalty to the British crown, and the realization that he is on the wrong side of history may prompt him to go to war against a few unforeseen enemies. In a March 2022 interview, Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie, revealed that Fraser’s Ridge will see its degeneration. In a battle to save the lives of him and his loved ones, Jamie may have to sacrifice the settlement he built.
If the sixth season follows the story of the source novel significantly, we can expect Jamie to focus on the tensions brewing within his settlement. The introduction of Thomas Christie and the influence of the Protestant faith he brings to the Ridge can have serious consequences, especially the appeal of Jamie and his family. While his admirable relationship with Claire is expected to be strong as usual, the latter’s PTSD can be challenging for them. As time progresses toward the Revolution, Jamie can get into emotional conflict gradually yet serious.
While we may see Jamie alive and well at the end of season six, the Scotsman could be going through a horrific emotional time. With the show’s seventh season already announced, Jamie’s death should be the last thing the creative heads of the show will consider. That’s why we believe that in Season 6, Jamie will steer clear of death and dwell on the conflicts that shake his principles and arrangement.
