Directed by Mark Williams, “Blacklight” is a gripping thriller that revolves around FBI agent Travis Block as his cover is blown following the discovery of a murder plot. Although Travis is determined to stop the case, he soon realizes that he is in over his head as the problem has spread to the higher ups! The film stars the incredible Liam Neeson alongside other talents like Emmy Raver-Lampman, Aidan Quinn and Claire van der Boom.

Blacklight filming locations
Most of ‘Blacklight takes place in urban cities. The production team chose the island-continent of Australia as the main filming location for the film. As Australia is such a diverse country, this met the needs of the producers and helped them achieve quite a visually stimulating move every once in a while! Filming began in November 2020 and continued for a few months, wrapping up in early 2021. Let’s take a closer look at the filming locations, shall we?
Melbourne, Australia
Located in the southeast of the country, Melbourne was one of the film’s main filming locations. For the purposes of filming, the crew made use of the many resources and facilities available in the city. Plus, as a modern metropolis, Melbourne suited the film’s theme perfectly and provided some of the perfect settings for the action scenes. The film crew used numerous indoor and outdoor locations in and around the town, including the locality of Lower Plenty.
Additionally, reports indicate that “Blacklight” is the first film to be shot inside the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Center as a production site. Located at 1 Convention Center Place in South Wharf, it served as a stand-in for many indoor scenes. The team also shot several scenes in other locations in and around the city of Melbourne. At Mt. Macedon, located a few miles northwest of Melbourne, a local swimming hole has been transformed into an American trailer park.
The film also filmed some scenes at the Highpoint Shopping Center in Maribyrnong, located in the Melbourne metropolitan area. The Collingwood neighborhood and the suburbs of Noble Park, Coburg and Glenroy also served as filming locations for the film.
Canberra, Australia
Australia’s capital, Canberra, is known for its eclectic mix of cultures, ethnicities and traditions. Additionally, it also offers top-notch filming facilities, and the town itself is located in the lap of nature, making it a favorite among producers. So it’s no surprise that Canberra has hosted crews for productions such as ‘Galore’, ‘Secret City’ and ‘Total Control’. In “Blacklight”, the production team shot an intense and action-packed car chase scene in streets such as Binara, Bunda and Allara outside Casino Canberra and Crowne Plaza, doubling for the streets from Washington DC.
