The 2013 slasher horror film “Texas Chainsaw 3D” (or simply “Texas Chainsaw”) is the seventh installment in the wildly popular “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” franchise. John Luessenhop directed the film, with the intention of making it a direct sequel to the classic 1974 film and cutting out later spin-off developments. The story follows Heather Miller, who lives with her adoptive parents in Texas.
She inherits the vast Carson estate from her grandmother and learns of her current family’s horrific past. While it in no way matches the gritty, cerebral vibe of the first film, it still packs in the blood, gore, and pulpy fun to keep fans happy. You may be wondering if there is a post-credit streak, and that thought may haunt you for the rest of your life. Therefore, let’s put an end to all your doubts and inquiries. FRONT SPOILERS.
Texas Chainsaw 3D Post-Credits Scene
In case you haven’t noticed, the movie hides post-credits footage. In the scene, Gavin and Arlene Miller find themselves outside the door of Heather’s (or should we say Edith’s) new residence. Arlene suggests that Gavin show lots of affection, and Gavin agrees, looking at their adopted daughter’s new fortune. They ring the doorbell and wait to greet Heather. Instead, they must face the wrath of Jed Sawyer. Although the ending is amusing to say the least, several questions remain.
How did Gavin and Arlene open the door?
The first question that appears before the viewer concerns the appearance of Gavin and Arlene at the door of the Carson house. If you remember the opening moments of the movie, the Farnsworth family attorney reveals the code needed to open the outer door to Heather. The code is 0-8-19, after August 19, the heartbreaking day in 1973 when the massacre in the first film took place.
However, the Millers cannot know the code unless Heather has already informed them. The Millers don’t seem smart enough to crack the password on their own, despite having been present at the scene of the arson on August 19. Thus, the explanation of how the Millers got through the outer door remains a mystery. The movie doesn’t explain it – and our best bet is that Heather already informed them of the password in the invitation letter.
Are Gavin and Arlene dead or alive?
The post-credits sequence does not give us any closure on the fate of the Miller couple. However, looking at Leatherface’s eagerness to chop them up, it seems like the Millers don’t get a happy ending. Reading police records and applying a bit of common sense, Heather thinks Gavin Miller was among the bystanders to the arson. In Loretta’s report, she is presumed dead, while no trace of the child remains.
Heather deduces that the Miller couple took her away from her biological mother. Additionally, she resents her adoptive parents for not disclosing her ancestral line. Therefore, Heather may have asked her cousin to take care of her adoptive parents. To escape Leatherface, Gavin and Arlene Miller might need the mediation of a miracle. Considering all sides, we conclude that Gavin and Arlene are dead.
