Bel-Air Episode 6 Recap and Ending, Explained

-

“Bel-Air” is the dramatized reimagining of the sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” In episode 6, titled “The Force to Smile”, Will (Jabari Banks) is still reeling from the breakdown of his friendship with Tray. Banks is hosting a charity fundraiser to commemorate the memory of Lisa’s mother (Simone Joy Jones), who was a close friend of Viv (Cassandra Freeman). Lisa asks Will why he’s been so distant lately. After hearing an interaction between Lisa and Will, Carlton (Olly Sholotan) gets high on Xanax. Meanwhile, Phil discovers a friendly face among his political rivals. Here’s everything you need to know about the ‘Bel-Air’ episode 6 ending. AHEAD SPOILERS.

Bel-Air episode 6 recap

The episode begins with Will discovering that his friends in West Philly are criticizing him on social media. Phil faces a similar situation with Fred Wilkes and convinces Will to solve his own problems and realize that the people around him have problems too. Will seems to appreciate this lesson in empathy and joins the rest of the family in making sure the fundraiser is a success.

Hilary (Coco Jones) struggles to adjust to the demanding and competitive aspects of life in a house of influence. Despite this, when her mother asks her for help with food for the fundraiser, she immediately drops everything and goes to her parents.

Naturally, Lisa has the hardest time. She doesn’t like the fact that her father married his second wife, Angela, about a year after her mother passed away. Lisa’s relationship with Angela has always been somewhat adversarial. But now that Angela is pregnant, Lisa feels her mother is gradually being erased from their lives. Initially, Viv maintains a level of civility in her conversations with Angela. However, Angela eventually reveals that she and Fred were in a relationship when Lisa’s mother was still alive. Viv starts boiling and near the end of the episode she unloads it all on Angela.

After talking to Hilary, Ashley decides to tell Lucia how she feels about her but stops when she discovers the other girl has a crush on Will. It’s the first heartbreak Ashley has ever had, and her big sister helps her through it. For now, Ashley decides not to tell anyone about her interest in girls.

Carlton overhears Lisa telling Will that she has to walk on eggshells around Carlton because of his volatile emotions. This sends Carlton into one of his worst outbursts. When Will comes to pick him up, Carlton has already started getting high on Xanax. Their relationship has been mostly combative so far. It gets better when Carlton collapses in his cousin’s arms. Meanwhile, Phil finds reason to suspect that Reid Broderick has come back into Viv’s life with an ulterior motive.

End of episode 6 of Bel-Air: Will and Lisa end up together?

Will and Lisa nearly got married in the original series, not once but twice. After their second marriage is annulled, their respective single parents, Vy and Fred, marry, making Will and Lisa half-siblings. It’s probably safe to assume that the producers won’t let the narrative go that route in “Bel-Air.” However, that doesn’t mean Will and Lisa will end up together. On the contrary, it will be an uphill battle for them if they want it to work.

At the end of episode 6, Will and Lisa share a kiss, officially starting their relationship. Things will inevitably get complicated for both of them in the next episodes. Their families have practically declared war on each other. If Fred finds out what Phil did to get Will released from police custody – and he most likely will – he can potentially ruin Phil’s campaign.

In “Bel-Air”, Fred Wilkes is the Los Angeles Police Chief. After Phil announces he plans to defund the police, his polls begin to skyrocket among everyday people, but he loses the support of the LAPD and that of his close friend Fred. In Episode 6, Phil discovers his campaign has lost major support, and Geoffrey (Jimmy Akingbola) later discovers the reason: they’ve found a new candidate to support in Fred. This, along with Viv finding out about Fred’s affair, leads to a confrontation at the fundraiser, which, in turn, leads to Angela and Fred leaving.
