Kerry Washington’s New York home on Manhattan’s Upper West Side had room for her ‘whole crew’
The Little Fires Everywhere star opened the doors of her New York City home for Architectural Digest in 2019. Washington gave a tour and explained that it hadn’t been easy finding a home in Manhattan big enough for her entire family.
“We spent a lot of time looking for a place that had enough space for our whole crew, our posse,” Washington said. Up to that point she’d been living in LA with her NFL player-turned actor husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, and their three children.
After searching all over the city for the right place, Washington signed a lease on a 6,168-square-foot Upper West Side penthouse. The view of the Hudson River helped seal the deal.
“That view!” she said. “We spend a lot of time outdoors in LA, so it was important to me that my family could still feel that connection.” So it became Washington’s New York home while playing the lead in Christopher Demos-Brown’s, American Son, which has since been adapted for film.
The ‘Scandal’ star’s penthouse included 6 bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms:
Washington’s penthouse, which came with a rental fee of $70,000, according to the New York Post, spanned an entire floor. Located at 50 Riverside Blvd., the penthouse featured a private elevator, six bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, and a half bath.
Additionally, it featured plenty of living space. The living room area, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows and a couch Washington “never wanted to get up” from, flowed to an eat-in chef’s kitchen divided only by a look-through fireplace.
When Washington and her family weren’t hanging out in the kitchen or living room they could watch TV in the media room or grab a bottle of vino from the built-in wine fridge.
Washington’s New York home also included a mudroom, laundry room, walk-in closets, soaking tub, and spa bathrooms.
Working with Restoration Hardware’s in-house design studio, Washington described the penthouse as “something beautiful and elevated yet totally livable.”
Additionally, Washington’s New York home also included access to a long list of building amenities. Her workout routine could be done at the gym. Alternatively, she had the option of swimming laps in the building’s 75-foot pool, climbing their 38-foot rock wall, or taking to the basketball and squash courts.
The ‘Scandal’ star’s former home is now for sale:
Washington’s New York home is on the market. That’s right. The place she rented during her time on Broadway is for sale.
According to the New York Post, it’s listed for $25 million, the same amount as Washington’s estimated net worth. The property has been on the market since February 2022 after being listed previously at a higher price.
